The Department of Music at Ashland University has scheduled a guest artist recital featuring William Preucil, violinist and concertmaster for the Cleveland Orchestra, and Christine Fessenmeyer-Hill, pianist, on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m., in the Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts. This event is free and open to the public.

The program will include Brahms’ Sonata for No. 2 in A Major, Op. 100; Sonata for Violin and Piano by Debussy; and Sonata for Violin and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 18 by Strauss.

Preucil has been concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra for 14 years, appearing as soloist with the Orchestra in concerto performances at both Severance Hall and Blossom Music Center. He was also a member of the Grammy-winning Cleveland Quartet, performing in the world’s major music capitals and appearing on Telarc International recordings. In addition, Preucil also served as Concertmaster for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, as well as with symphonies in Utah and Nashville.

Preucil has performed chamber music all over the world as guest soloist and at summer music festivals. He serves as distinguished professor of violin at the Cleveland Institute of Music and distinguished visiting lecturer at Furman University. At age 16, Preucil graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and entered Indiana University to study with Josef Gingold, former concertmaster with the Cleveland Orchestra.

Fessenmeyer-Hill appears frequently as a soloist, recitalist and chamber music pianist throughout the country with major symphonies, vocalists and chamber musicians. She is a member of the Cleveland Institute of Music Collaborative Piano Faculty and on the Piano Faculty at Cleveland State University, maintaining an active career as a music educator.
