By Kyle Valentini

The Ramada Limited at Strasburg gives visitors to Ohio’s Amish Country access to all the region has to offer. Centrally located close to the quaint and quiet towns that are home to the nation’s largest Amish settlement, Ramada Limited also is a gateway to the larger towns and cities with points of interest for every member of the family.

Located just minutes from I-77, U.S. 250 and SR 21, the Ramada Limited can be a temporary home base for guests wishing to experience any or all of Amish Country’s eight-county region.

“We are unique in that our location allows travelers to visit so many different attractions in the region,” said Denise McConnell, Ramada Limited general manager since the hotel opened in 1998. “We are close to Amish Country, wineries, golf courses, the Atwood Lake Region, the Pro Football Hall of Fame at Canton and the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath Trail. There is so much for travelers to do and see and Ramada Limited is a great starting point.”

Families are a priority at Ramada Limited and accommodations are top-notch. Double, king, suite and efficiency rooms are available and include connecting and handicap accessibility to make families comfortable when staying away from home. Amenities like complimentary cable TV and HBO, ironing boards, hair dryers and in-room coffeemakers simplify life for travelers as they take a respite from their daily lives.

A heated indoor pool and hot tub are available year-round for the comfort of guests. Rollaway beds and cribs are available on request for larger families or those traveling with infants and toddlers. Ramada Limited is a pet friendly hotel and welcomes four-legged companions.

Business travelers can be assured access to free high speed wireless Internet, fax machine, copy machine and a conference room for meetings. The conference room accommodates up to 42 people comfortably. Government rates are available as well as special rates for large groups wishing to stay under one roof.

Ramada Limited can do much of the planning for guests in need of a getaway. Several packages are available and have included a seasonal Polar Express Package complete with a copy of the popular book and CD, a Romantic Getaway Package that includes a gift certificate to a fine dining restaurant, a bottle of wine from a local winery and delicious locally made chocolates from one of the premier candy makers in the region.

A unique Drive-In Movie Package, A Night under the Stars, showcases the Lynn Auto Theatre, the world’s second oldest continually operating drive-in theatre and the oldest in Ohio. Just minutes from the hotel, The Lynn offers two screens and plays first run movies in the warmer months.

Several Golf Packages will help keep scores low and spirits high when guests visit one of the many golf courses in the region. More than a dozen golf courses suitable for golfers of all skill levels await the traveler wishing to spend a little time on the links.

In addition to Amish Country and the simpler, rural way of life, guests are encouraged to visit many other attractions in the region.

Art and entertainment lovers will enjoy the convenient access to the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas at New Philadelphia that features live theater, musicals, concerts and comedy in a state of the art theater that will impress even the worldly traveler. The Tuscarawas Center for the Arts at New Philadelphia features local and traveling visual art shows and offers classes and workshops in art, dance, music and other events.

Culture seekers can enjoy a performance at The Little Theater of Tuscarawas County at New Philadelphia or a night under the stars at Tuscarawas County’s outdoor amphitheater with a performance of Trumpet in the Land, a historical drama that has been entertaining audiences for more than 40 years.

Museums of all types are nearby and offer something for everyone. The Pro Football Hall of Fame at Canton is a must-see for sports fans. At Dover, visitors will enjoy touring Warther Museum and the collection of hand-carved replica trains, J.E. Reeves Victorian Home and Carriage House, America’s Gas Pump Heaven Museum with its extensive collection of gas pumps and gas station memorabilia, and Auman Radio and Television Museum with more than 200 televisions from 1930 to the 1950s on display.

Ramada Limited is conveniently located to many restaurants, from fast food and casual sports bars to fine dining, to suit everyone’s tastes. Home style Amish cooking, ethnic cuisine and gourmet choices are available. Many local eateries are family owned and visitors will get to eat where the locals eat.

“We always recommend our guests enjoy one of the many locally owned restaurants in the area,” said McConnell. “They enjoy the different types of places available that are a reflection of our region and the people that live here.”
