Peace and quiet, rest and relaxation, can be found at Cricket Hill Cabins

By Shelly Webb

There are times in life when you crave peace and quiet, times when you need to retreat and focus your mind on the things that really matter. Whether you have a couple of spare days during the regular work week or you're interested in a weekend getaway, Cricket Hill Cabins offers rest and relaxation in a gorgeous setting.

Cricket Hill is located in the heart of Holmes County, just 3 1/2 miles west of Berlin and one mile north of SR 39 and U.S. 62. The location offers guests the beauty of staying in Ohio's Amish Country and the convenience of being five minutes from one of the neatest villages in the area.

Cricket Hill Cabins is owned and operated by Mike and Martha Kline. The Klines purchased the cabins and grounds about four and a half years ago and according to Martha, the venture has turned into a great experience.

“We weren't really looking for a business venture but this kind of just came up,” she shared. “We really enjoy the cabins and meeting the guests that come here to take advantage of the beautiful setting and the peace and quiet they find.”

Kline said that many guests are repeat visitors that have stayed at the cabins in the past and had such a great experience that they continue to return.

“We do have a lot of returning guests,” she said. “That's a great testimony to Cricket Hill Cabins and the way things are done here. When people come back time after time it tells us they are pleased with their experience here and that makes us feel really good about things.”

Cricket Hill offers three cabins, all with beautiful scenery and great amenities, including fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs and outdoor fire rings.

The Apple Blossom Cabin has a large front yard, which is framed by spruce trees and the picture window in the living room overlooks a wooded ravine. The Klines recently added a rear deck with an outdoor spa (hot tub), and a wooden bench swing sits by the fire ring.

The Grapevine Cabin is situated on a ledge overlooking the ravine. This cabin offers a fantastic view and a chance to enjoy nature, as you take a short walk over a bridge and up a gravel path. The cabin is surrounded by trees and is very secluded, with a fire pit in the front yard.

Last but not least is the Wild Rose Cabin, which is the newest of the three cabins.

“The Wild Rose Cabin is our newest addition and also has the popular, outdoor spa (hot tub),” Kline said. “The deck on the back overlooks the steep ravine and has a spectacular view. This cabin also has a front lawn with pines surrounding the yard. All of our cabins are very secluded and private and have wonderful amenities. Two of the cabins are equipped with outdoor spas (hot tubs) on the deck, which is really nice in the winter because you can sit in the luxury of the hot tub and watch the snow fall.”

The Klines are offering some great specials on their Web site at www.crickethillcabins.com for the upcoming winter months, which is a perfect time to get away and give Cricket Hill a try.

“During the winter, a lot of people feel cooped up and wish they could go someplace different for a day or so,” Kline said. “We are offering some winter specials and weekday specials as well on our Web site and we hope people take a look at those.”

By browsing the Web site, you can also check availability, specials, local attractions and more. Kline updates the Web site daily and offers lots of photographs of the cabins so visitors can see the accommodations first-hand.

If you have the desire to get away and truly embrace peace and quiet, then Cricket Hill Cabins can help you, whether you have a day, a weekend or an entire week of free time.
