Premier Carriage House Cottages offer comfort and privacy
By Joanne Lehman
It's the little extras that make a retreat so perfect. When you come to Amish Country, you'll experience the area's beauty and find time to unwind in an atmosphere of simplicity. But when it comes to accommodations, you don't want to sacrifice the comforts of home.
You'll find Premier Carriage House Cottages down a tree-lined lane off a country road. They're a great place to spend evenings and "down time" between your Amish country adventures. Whether you're watching horses graze in the pasture of a nearby farm, enjoying a spectacular starlit sky from your deck, or strolling quietly down the country road at dusk, you'll take home memories of time spent together with those you love.
Each cottage looks like it's stepped straight off the pages of a storybook. Here, family and friends can catch up on their lives, whether they choose a home-away-from-home that has a rustic barn-themed décor, or one with romantic cathedral ceilings and hardwood flooring. Exterior stone, wood siding or stucco finishes give each cabin its own character. Children will enjoy feeding the neighbors' horses and ponies that eat right out of guests' hands.
The innkeeper said many guests at Premier Carriage House Cottages come back repeatedly- whether to stay in "their" vacation house or to try a different cottage. Girlfriends rent the cottages for a fun weekend getaway. Everyone enjoys the welcome baskets of snacks and sparkling cider they find in their new home away from home.
An added attraction this summer is the new heated pool and an eight-person spa- in the outdoors, of course. The innkeepers had a personal hand in the design and construction of the pool area. It features a rock garden with native plants and lighting for evening enjoyment and native plants and /landscape/lighting for evening enjoyment and a waterfall with a bench underneath to cool off and relax to the soothing sounds of summer. A large permanent shaded pergola protects from the heat of an Ohio summer afternoon. Although it's still a work in progress, the innkeepers are working to create two practice golf greens on the property where guests can get ready for their vacation-time golf outings.
Premier Carriage House Cottages provides all the amenities. Lodging can accommodate various sized groups- couples usually prefer to stay in the smaller cottages. Larger cottages can sleep families or groups of up to eight. Each cottage has at least one sleeper sofa, and several comfortable upholstered pieces and interesting antiques. Other amenities include stone fireplaces, lofts, two-person Jacuzzi baths, decks, satellite TV, VCR, CD and DVD players, full kitchens, and barbecue grills. A common breakfast area at the main office offers a continental breakfast, plus homemade waffles. Pastries are from local bakeries.
