Beauty that’s built to last Swiss Valley Furniture offers large variety and top of the line quality By Shelly Webb
When it comes to fine furniture, everyone knows it’s the craftsmanship and quality that really counts. Anyone can mass produce a dining room set or bedroom suite that catches the eye, but the real test is how long that piece of furniture continues to catch the eye. Swiss Valley Furniture is one local business that has been satisfying scores of customers since they opened their doors back in 1995. A family owned and operated business, Swiss Valley prides themselves in specializing in solid hardwood furniture for every room of the home. “Each piece of our hardwood furniture is handcrafted by local Amish builders,” said co-owner Kendrick Mullet. “Our craftsmen produce excellent quality and use a variety of hardwoods like oak, cherry, walnut, brown maple, rustic cherry, hickory, quarter-sawn oak, white maple, and elm. Because each piece is solid wood and built to last, we offer a lifetime warranty with every solid wood piece we offer.” With one of the largest showrooms in the area, Swiss Valley Furniture is filled with some of the most beautiful bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room and office furniture you’ll ever find and also offers gorgeous entertainment centers and other unique pieces that can add personal character and style to your home. “We offer one of the largest showrooms in the area, with over 24,000-square-feet,” Mullet said. “Having so much space makes it convenient for our customers and they can see many different styles and woods. We also specialize in kitchen and dining room furniture and carry more than 65 tables and 340 chairs and barstools that our customers can take home right away. Our selection is huge but we also offer the option of customizing your table and chairs to your exact size and style, which many customers find appealing. We ask that you allow approximately eight weeks for customized orders because that’s about how long it takes for the furniture to be built.” In addition to the wide array of kitchen and dining room furniture, Swiss Valley carries a large selection of bedroom suites as well. With more than 55 different styles of beds to choose from, you’re certain to find exactly what you’re looking for, whether you prefer Shaker, Mission, traditional, modern, contemporary, rustic or another specific design. But bedrooms and kitchens aren’t the only areas that can be enhanced with a visit to Swiss Valley. There are many unique styles of television stands and computer desks, which can be purchased immediately or ordered to fit your exact size and room. “We also have lots of popular items you can take with you right away, including occasional tables, shelves, bookcases, rockers and gliders, trash bins, jelly cupboards, plasma stands, desks, lamps and more. We also carry mattresses, cribs, bunk-beds, artwork, outdoor furniture, curios, islands, hutches, and buffets as well.” Mullet co-owns the store with his father, Dennis, and brother, Keshawn. The two brothers actually grew up building custom kitchens with their father and grandfather. “Having spent 30 years designing and building custom kitchens, dad (Dennis) has the experience and expertise to help our customers create any custom item they want. In the past, we have even built numerous items from pictures and drawings that a customer has brought in.” Even though top quality furniture is what Swiss Valley is known for, the reputation of the business and excellent customer service is an important aspect that continues to bring in new customers and brings previous customers back again. “Our business is built on honesty and integrity in every aspect, from the product we provide, to the customer service and trained sales staff,” Mullet shared. “We’re also especially proud of the white glove in home delivery and set-up we offer. From beginning to end, you can rest assured that your entire experience with us will be pleasurable. We are committed to always go the extra mile for each customer. Whether you are buying a small trash bin for your kitchen or furnishing your entire home, each customer is important to us.” The Mullet family has been building and selling hardwood furniture for three generations, and continues to put forth every effort to achieve their main goal, which is simply “to provide you with heirloom quality at a family affordable price.” Swiss Valley Furniture is located one mile east of Walnut Creek along State Route 39, about 12 miles west of Interstate 77. Store hours are Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions or more information, phone the store at 330-852-7305 or visit their Web site at www.swissvalleyfurniture.com for more details.
