Inn at Walnut Creek sets the standard for friendly service
By Holly Drake
The Inn at Walnut Creek ìis just a place where you can come in and relax, Karen Curry said of her business.
The inn, which was the second hotel built in Walnut Creek, has 17 rooms in the main building and four efficiency suites next door. The Inn at Walnut Creek is proud of being ìsmall enough to be friendly, said Curry.
A former bed and breakfast owner, Curry said that she runs the inn much the same way. We're doing what we've always done, because it seems to have worked, she said.
The Inn at Walnut Creek is a family-oriented place, according to Curry. She and her husband, Greg, know their clientele well, as many of them are repeat customers. The employees, too, are like family. Curry is always ready to entertain guests. ìI'm pretty much a people person, she said. I like the conversation.
Not only does the Inn at Walnut Creek offer clean rooms, a continental breakfast, and friendly service, the staff is knowledgeable about what is happening in the area. They are always ready to help guests enjoy their visit to Amish Country and let them know what's new each time they visit. Many guests want to take part in regular rural Ohio activities, but others come for specific festivals. The busiest time of year, Curry said, is September and October -- pie season.
We're located in a spot where they [guests] can walk to everything in Walnut Creek, Curry said. The new town library is located right next door to the inn and offers WiFi. ìIt's been a great addition to our town.
Many visitors look for the Mt. Hope auction grounds, Hershberger's Truck Patch, or a local school auction. With the rise in gas prices, Curry has found that guests are staying longer to really enjoy the area before moving on or heading home.
Curry is a transplant to the area and knows what it's like to be new, but has found it a great place to live. She added, We've made some really, really good friends.
Many of her clientele have also found the area welcoming. We get a lot of people here that have made Amish friends. The local community is not difficult to get to know, Curry said, and many visitors find it a wonderful place to stay.
Rooms at the Inn at Walnut Creek are furnished with locally made Shaker-style furniture. Guests can choose between a room with a king-size bed or with double queen beds. Balconies and decks provide an opportune spot to view the surrounding area. The Inn at Walnut Creek is located in the heart of Amish Country.
The inn also shows their appreciation to loyal guests by awarding one night free for two adults after spending 10 nights at the Inn at Walnut Creek. For more information or to make reservations, call 800-262-7181.
