Welcoming gate always open at bed & breakfast
Each step through the old garden gate at Garden Gate Get-A-Way Bed & Breakfast brings guests closer to the perfect home away from home. Owned and operated by Carol and Herb Steffey, this bed and breakfast offers serenity both indoors in its well-appointed, comfortable rooms and outdoors on the lawn, patios and flower-lined walkways. Guests will enjoy a made-from-scratch breakfast buffet, including a hot dish like quiche, breakfast burritos, egg strata and more, a nightly campfire, weather permitting, and many amenities found in 5-star lodging facilities.
All guests stay on the lower level of this private home, where much of the year they can enjoy the birds and butterflies that find a safe haven within the sumptuous perennial gardens. The five guest rooms each have a private bath and outside entrance, as well as access to the breakfast and common rooms.
All guest rooms, from standard to Jacuzzi, feature luxury linens. “Simple things make a difference,” Carol stated. “We order the better soaps and shampoos in a wildflower scent and supply our guests with generous-sized bath towels and high thread count sheets.”
This attention to detail is significant, but customer service is just as important. According to Carol, guests at the B&B have remarked that many places have nice guest rooms, but not all of them have such great customer service. That is what separates Garden Gate Get-A-Way B&B from the other lodging choices, and is a major factor in their selection as one of the Top 10 B&Bs in the Midwest for 2008-2009, in addition to Top 10 in the U.S. the prior year.
Something new has been added at Garden Gate are the cottages that are romantic, luxury accommodation for couples. The names even reflect the romance: Fall’s Kiss Cottage has a fall/autumn décor and Spring’s Desire Cottage has a lighter, spring theme. This will give guests the choice of standard/traditional rooms, deluxe king room with a fireplace, and a Jacuzzi fireplace suite in the main house, and provide private, comfortable romantic cottages on the same property.
