Amish Country Grab Bag Christmas

 

Day one:


Arrive in Dover and tour the J. E. Reeves Victorian House and Carriage House Museum, a restored turn-of-the-century mansion with original family furnishings decorated in holiday grandeur. The evening meal will feature a holiday style menu on-site at the Carriage House.
Check in at one of the local hotels.

 

Day two:

The local step-on guide will arrive at the hotel property. Begin the day at an Amish home to decorate cookies, which will be ready upon arrival. Each person will use their own creativity to frost and decorate a dozen cookies to take home. The family will sing Christmas carols and share about their family traditions.

Who can refuse the taste of chocolates? With everything from truffles to sugar-free, Coblentz Chocolate Company offers a wide variety, in addition to seasonal themes.Shop in the small town of Walnut Creek, at the Carlisle Gift House, featuring quality home decor, gifts, Thomas Kinkade, jewelry, candles, and lace.Visit the Der Dutchman Bakery for a favorite baked item.  Lunch is “on-your-own” in the village of Berlin. More than 40 shops line the streets of this early 1800s village, featuring many unique items, including quilts, baskets, crafts, antiques, collectibles, bakery, candles, locally made furniture, and bulk foods. Find more Christmas decorating ideas at ‘Tis The Season Christmas Store, with three floors of holiday splendor. The day will conclude with an evening meal at the Inn at Amish Door. Dinner will be accompanied by selections of Christmas songs sung by a local talent.

Day three:

Finish holiday shopping at The Original Holmes County Flea Market. With everything under one roof, visitors will find a wide variety of items to fill stockings or put under the tree. Cheese, fresh meats, discount books, floral arrangements, and much more is available.
When departing the area, stop at one of four local wineries.
