A Salute to our Four Fathers
Day One:
Group will arrive and check in at the Coshocton Village Inn and Suites.Located in Coshocton, the heart of a Historic Canal Town, you will be greeted with a welcome reception of cookies and punch. Relax and enjoy your dinner at the Inn. Your meal will consist of an evening buffet with Honey Glazed Baked Ham, Swiss Steak, Rice Pilaf, Buttered Red Skin Potatoes, chilled tossed salad, rolls, butter, mixed vegetables, hot and cold beve rages and peach cobbler. Enjoy an evening swim in the indoor pool!
Day Two:
Depart with your local guideafter your continental breakfast buffet consisting of waffles, biscuits & gravy, muffins, rolls, cereal, juice and coffee. Roscoe Village offers an in-depth living history tour as costumed interpreters escort visitors along red brick paths and historical buildings. Tour the modern exhibit hall with intricate dioramas featuring the construction ofthe canal, a working mini lock model, and an interactive exhibit, the Discovery Room. Journey to the Village Blacksmith and witness the forging of iron the way it was done in the 1800's, print on an 1800's printing press, tour Dr. Maro Johnsons house, attend class in a one room schoolhouse and much more. Great shopping lines the streets. A boxed lunch will be provided as we ride the canal on the Monticello III pulled by a team of workhorses. A map of the Ohio canals will be given to each person as you learn about the journey of the early canal workers. Tour the historical landscapesof the Coshocton area with a stop at the oldest flag making company in the United States. Annin & Co. is the world’s oldest and largest flag manufacturer. Tour the factory with a seasoned employee who will tell the fascinating history of US flag making. Unusual Junction is a unique shopping and dining complex built around a historic late 1800’s train station. You will find a selection of gourmet foods, locally made cheese, specialty foods, chocolates, sugar free candy, and one of Ohio's largest selection of hot sauces.The original sign used at the Price Is Right gameshow stage is on display inside the diner.The Freight House Building is where you'll find Ohio's Premier Bridal Salon with hundreds of designer wedding gowns, prom dresses, wedding apparel and costume jewelry.
Tour one of Ohio’s premier wineries and visit their state-of-the-art wine-making facility. Our dinner will consist of a Buffet overlooking the beautiful Tuscarawas River and one of the top golf courses in the Midwest. Return to the Coshocton Village Inn and Suites.
Day Three:
You will not need a local guide for today. Dave Longaberger of Longaberger Baskets can be remembered as a pioneer of the popular style baskets as well as his involvement of the community. His legacy at the Longaberger Homestead is proof that he cared about the well-being of people as well. The Tour will begin with a visit to the Home Office, a 7-story market basket replica.The open-air atrium soars to the rooftop giving a breath-taking view of the “ basket ”handles. The Longaberger Home Office has been recognized as one of the most unique architectural structures in the world. Next stop is the Longaberger Homestead. Watch master artisans weaving Longaberger baskets and learn the manufacturing process. Also visit the Factory Outlet Store and take time to Make-A-Basket, weaving your own Longaberger masterpiece. ( Basket making is not included in package price ) Following this, travel back to the Longaberger Homestead to watch basket making as well as shop on the campus. Lunch is on your own at the Campus.
