The Farmer’s Fortune adventure begins at participating businesses in May

As the legend goes, Old Man Miller was an old, poor farmer who kept to himself on his local homestead over a century ago . . . or was he?

The fact is, Old Man Miller had a small fortune that he allegedly buried on that same parcel of land at some point before he died, leaving no heirs behind. This treasure, and even the location of the farmer’s plot itself, disappeared along with the land records over the years.

That was until some treasure hunters caught a lucky break with some correspondence stuck in the bottom of an old desk purchased at an estate sale. The men supposedly located and dug up the riches, only to be thwarted by the legal process and the current landowner who found out about their bounty. Court orders sealed all information about the fortune and the men disappeared. Those men, and the treasure, would never be seen or heard from again . . . until now.

Has the treasure surfaced again?

Allegedly, a young boy showed up at a local bank with an old weathered cigar box and some gold coins and bills. Nobody asked him how he came into possession of these items until speculation began at the bank after he had already left.

Was Old Man Miller’s fortune finally found again?

Did the boy, or someone else, stumble upon it or intentionally seek it out?

The true fact is, there is a Farmer’s Fortune, and you can lay claim to it.

Graphic Publications is pleased to announce an exciting new adventure that brings participants instant savings and a chance to win many great prizes, including the grand prize of $5,000! Farmer’s Fortune uses the legend of Old Man Miller as the key, with players using “clues” to unlock their opportunity to receive instant savings at local businesses, as well as securing a chance to win a large chunk of change for themselves.

It all starts when players go to participating business locations where they receive a Clue Journal, which contains a list and a map of all participating businesses. These journals will be the key for players as they record different clues from each of these merchants in order to win. These simple clues, once recorded, become an instant savings “cluepon” at that business where the customer can receive a valuable discount on any single item purchase at that location. The more clues you get, the more money you save. More importantly, the more clues you record, the better your chances at claiming your portion of the Farmer’s Fortune––the $5,000 grand prize.

Participants can play throughout May, recording as many clues as possible, with each clue increasing their chances of winning. There is no purchase necessary, but the great savings will be worth a small fortune in its own right.

The grand opening of the Farmer’s Fortune Chest will be held on Saturday, June 6, at a time and location soon to be revealed. Players must be present to win, and they must have their Clue Journal to receive their key to the chest. Promotion details and extra ways to save and win can be found at www.OACountry.com.

More information about the Farmer’s Fortune will be revealed in the upcoming publications of The Bargain Hunter, Wooster Weekly News, The Holmes County Journal, Mimi Vanderhaven and Ohio’s Amish Country. To play, watch these publications for participating businesses or look online at www.OACountry.com. Businesses wishing to participate in the Farmer’s Fortune should contact Graphic Publications today.
