Orrville Railroad Heritage Society
The Orrville Railroad Heritage Society will hold a joint open house with five Orrville area museums or railroad related attractions on Nov. 28. The 1868 depot will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. for tours. Volunteers plan to decorate for the Christmas season, and will be serving cookies, popcorn, fruit punch, and hot chocolate for donations. The depot gift shop will open to start off your early Christmas shopping season, with railroad hats, T-shirts, and collectables for sale.
The Orrville Historical Museum, located just across the street, will be open for tours from 1-4 p.m. They have a large collection of early Orrville artifacts.
The D & J Hobbies Shop at 801 W. Market St. will be open their regular hours. They have a large HO gauge Model Railroad in their basement show room.
The Orrville Toy & Hobby Museum at 531 Smithville Hostettler Rd., will have special hours to match the depot museum. They have a large collection of toys on display.
The Orrville Agricultural Museum at 930 Penn Ave. will have a special open house. They have a large collection of early farm tools and equipment. The hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be maps at the Orrville Depot with directions to the other museums and attractions. The depot is located at the corner of West Market and Depot streets, at 145 Depot St. in Orrville. For more information, call the depot at 330-683-2426 from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
