Authentic Ohio Amish quilts began as a way of using scraps of fabric and feedsacks from making clothing and other household items. It has evolved into an art form. The plain culture, which the Amish and Mennonites are a part of, have expressed their color and creativity through their quilts for years. The Amish quilters (women) gather for a quilting party during the winter when they put up the frame. It becomes a time of socialization and catching up on community news.
