Swiss Heritage Winery-Create the Thunder
A new Riesling wine "Sweet Thunder" unveiled at a June 28th wine tasting event Swiss Heritage Winery, located at the Broad Run Cheesehouse hosed a wine tasting event on Saturday June 28 for their new American Riesling Sweet Thunder.
The wine label features a 1940's photo of Jane Zurcher (Fankhauser), who was named the Sweetheart of the 53rd Artillery Battalion during World War II whose battle cry was "create the thunder."
Gary Kish from Dillonvale Ohio, was the winner of the naming contest held last year and will be awarded with a $100 gift certificate along with other promotional items at the wine tasting.
"We absolutely loved the name Sweet Thunder and had to go through quite a few hoops in order for the TTB, the government agency for wine labels, to approve it. We had the help, over the course of a year, from Joe Alford an attorney advisor from the Army's Field Artillery Training Command in Fort Sill Oklahoma," said Diana Bailey, the marketing coordinator for Swiss Heritage Winery. "He and the other gentlemen soldiers at Fort Sill were so helpful with our unusual request, they really went out of their way to get us the letter of approval we needed, and we really appreciate them"
