Helping Hands Quilt Shop Testimonials
The relationship with Dutchman Hospitality Group (Walnut Creek, OH) (which operates Der Dutchman Restaurants, Dutch Valley Restaurant, Gifts & Furniture and Carlisle Inns/Carlisle Gifts) and Helping Hands Quilts Shops is very unique. Even though the founder of HHQS, Alma Mullet has a personal connection with the restaurants, inns and gift shops, it is only over the past two years that we have built a closer relationship and connection between the two businesses.
In 2007 we began some major remodeling projects at Dutch Valley Restaurant in Sugarcreek. Our goal was to personalize and add home-town, rural charm to the interiors of the Restaurant and Bakery to go along with the home made Amish Kitchen feel. With that said, we met with Alma regarding her expertise and experience with genuine Amish quilts. At that time, I was introduced to Linda Myers and we began creating that special decor through beautiful quilts and wallhangings to be displayed at the restaurants. It has been a privilege for me to work with Linda and her staff.
Their creativity, knowledge of the craft, and beautiful fabrics have been amazing. It is a joy to go in to the shop and choose fabrics and quilt styles, while women are actually quilting while you shop. The staff is always very nice and helpful, as well as enthusiastic about quilting.
Since I first began woring with HHQS, our relationship and friendship has grown deeply, as I am sure with all their customers. It is hard not to! We have been able to add very personal touches, with wallhangings to the new Der Dutchman Restaurant's Bakery in Walnut Creek as well as well as hand crafted quilts and shams at The Carlisle Inn of Walnut Creek. The pieces we have added have truly made a difference with the ambiance of our establishments. We couldn't have done it without HHQS and their staff. I am grateful for all their assistance. I would recommend that anyone interested in quilting, fabrics and a great experience visit HHQS.

What satisfied customers are saying about Helping Hands. . .
Dear Linda,
My most sincere apologies for the trouble and extra “hunting” I have caused you.
In my endeavors to catch up on my mending I opened my drawer of my sewing chest (after searching for the square for days) and among the mending was The Square. I have no idea how it got there because my quilt “stuff” is in another chest.
I’m happy the mystery is solved and truly regret the inconvenience caused you. You have been so kind through it all and I feel blessed to meet such wonderful people.
Looking forward to the completed quilt top.
In sincere thanks, Jean Shank

Dear ladies who helped with my dear son’s quilt,
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am about “our” quilt. I was in your shop last summer when I came to Ohio to get my son “off and running” into college in Oxford. I fell in love with the Helping Hands Quilt Shop and all the beautiful quilts. I even bought a quilt top there and a friend finished it for me.
I hope my son, Chris, will cherish it one day and pass it on to his son or daughter.
I shall visit in August sometime when I bring Chris back up to school.
Thank you!
Many blessings, Patti HichensonHouston, TX
My wife and I live in Huber Heights and decided to spend a weekend up in Amish Country a couple years ago. We were shopping for an authentic Amish quilt. Upon walking into Helping Hands, our eyes went directly to the spinning star being stitched. The workmanship, the color selection and perfection of putting together the 120-by-120 quilt were exactly what we were looking for. Then immediately we ordered the matching dust ruffle, shams, valances (our design). They even waited on some of the stitching until one of their days that the ladies come together for the day and stitch in public so we could spend a few minutes watching the stitching in action. After that one was completed, we started on the next bedroom and we were pleased to choose the Mariner Star. We wanted the entire package to be done in blue tones. We called the store and said that we would like to see some sample color selections the following weekend and we would work on it from there. Everything was ready when we arrived on that weekend. They worked with us for several hours to complete the final layout of colors. We even supplied the shop with a fitted white sheet marked on where we wanted the dust ruffle sewn on with the appropriate cuts and turned to accommodate our bed frame. Linda indicated they had never done one before but would give it a try. Also part of the order was 13 valances for our kitchen windows. All we had was a picture. We selected the colors and the store completed the order. We recently picked up everything. Everything looked stunning and was beyond our expectations. We recently returned to the store and worked on starting a double wedding ring quilt package. From Linda, to all their employees and volunteers from the Amish community, we cannot say enough good words for all the ladies that stitched our vision together and made our heirlooms a reality. I have in all cases with visitors and friends to our home showed them the quilts and have no problem telling them that Helping Hands Quilt Shop in Berlin is the only place to get exactly what you want the first time.
