Wooster Potters’ Guild Sale
Wooster Potters’ Guild will hold its annual pottery sale to benefit Wayne Center for the Arts Friday, Nov. 20, from 4-9 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Wayne Center for the Arts Auditorium, located at 237 S. Walnut Street, Wooster.
The sale includes a variety of functional, sculptural, and decorative pottery pieces made by guild members. Just in time for the holidays, the sale is open to the public and provides a great opportunity to get affordable handcrafted pottery pieces that are one-of-a-kind.
Friday’s event coincides with the annual Window Wonderland celebration in downtown Wooster. Visitors can park in the Wayne Center lots, or adjacent lots, to start or end their evening and stop in the Wayne Center for the Potters’ Guild sale and other holiday activities just a block and a half from the center of town. The Wayne Center’s holiday decorations will debut on Nov. 20 for Window Wonderland. Costumed actors will serve hot cider and caramel corn, and a make and take holiday art activity will take place in the children’s studio. The theme is A Victorian Christmas, in honor of the Storytime Family Theatre production of Christmas with Little Women scheduled for Dec. 4-5. The unique functional and decorative ceramic pieces by local potters make great holiday gifts.
The Potters’ Guild will also use the sale as an opportunity to raise funds with their scholarship table. Sales from the table are used to provide scholarships for people of all ages with a financial need to take pottery classes at the Wayne Center for the Arts.
The Wooster Potters’ Guild has been meeting as a group for more than 30 years, and was originally formed in 1976. They continue to meet the first Wednesday of each month, at 7 p.m., at Wayne Center for the Arts, where members share ideas and work together to improve their art.
